My first blog post

Members of the Northampton Judo Club had the pleasure and privilege recently to welcome one of the best judoka that Great Britain has ever produced, Brian Jacks 8th Dan and author. Located in the East Midlands this small and friendly club was the setting for a masterclass for juniors and seniors. The evening commenced with the juniors taking to the tatami first. Brian demonstrated a number of throws and offered tips and insight to correct technique execution. Thereafter it was fun and games for the youngsters before being given a breather to listen intently to a few of the master’s judo stories and ask questions on any aspect of judo that interested them. It was the turn of the seniors next and they were warmed up by Clyde Douglas, one of the clubs coaches. Once again Brian was centre stage sharing and explaining some of the finer points to his favourite and match winning throws and hold downs. During the session the participants had the opportunity of one-to-one coaching from Brian after which the group moved on to a vigorous randori practice. It was clear from the hum of the dojo and the animated faces of all involved that the evening was well appreciated and everyone left feeling happy and honoured to have had the opportunity to be on the tatami with the very approachable, knowledgeable and well-respected Brian Jack
