Understanding who is coming for their trial class allows us to make your first class suitable to your needs, so you can have fun and get the most of it. Let's go!
At the moment we are in the middle of our summer break in the month of August, and looking forward to returning to Carlsberg on Monday 5th September. This newsletter is to keep you up to date with developments in the meantime.
Our coaches have been working on improvements to the club, including:
Gradings for both seniors and juniors will take place every three months starting on the week beginning 26th September. Coaches will be preparing players for these gradings, and we always encourage you to check out the British judo association website which has some excellent grading videos for study
As a club we are planning to attend competitions for seniors and juniors on a regular basis. Competitions currently planned
11th September: High Wycombe Kyu Grade Cup
24th September: Northern Home Counties Area Open
To give everyone the opportunity to have a say in the running of the club we will be holding an annual general meeting on Thursday 1st December. We will send out an agenda well in advance of the meeting, and encourage everyone, including senior players and parents of junior players to attend
We have set up a WhatsApp group for senior players, and encourage everyone to make sure they look at this regularly and contribute when they have something to say
Similarly will be setting up a WhatsApp group for the parents of junior players, and encourage contributions to this this will include information about competitions comment developments to the club and other issues
Hopefully many members will have watched the excellent judo at the recent Commonwealth Games, and the success of several British players. Don't forget most of the major international competitions are available through YouTube, and through links from the British Judo Association website.
We currently have a coach rota where each of the senior coaches takes the Lead Coach role one week in five. We try to ensure that there are always at least two coaches on the mat so that we can give individual attention and induction of beginners. In addition, Irene runs the Saturday class for competition preparation for selected junior players
Some of our coaches have received promotion in the last year. Our congratulations to them
If you have any administrative or practical skills which you could offer to support the club, please discuss with any of the coaches.
We look forward to seeing you on the 5th September, and getting back to training. If you have any queries in the meantime please don't hesitate to contact coaches@northamptonjudo.com
With very best wishes
